Get Paid Taking Surveys In Your Spare Time

The latest on online paid surveys

To be honest to be fair, taking surveys for paid was simple and can be completed at your home, provided you have internet access. The sites we reviewed were completely free and did not require knowledge or training. Based on the site survey, it can be a straightforward but boringmethod for earning a couple of dollars or be a tedious chore that earns you nothing.

Certain sites were more expensive than other sites. We liked sites that revealed the cash value of each survey and then matched us with appropriate surveys. We hated sites that compensated us via the confusing system of points and also sent us surveys that which we were not able to take.

Be aware that your demographics and other factors determine the likelihood that you will be eligible to take part in surveys. The three of us who participated in survey in 2017 were women who were in our 20s and living in urban regions. According to the results of the survey, we might or might not have been the right respondents. Your profile might result in results that differ from ours.

Paid survey sites

Here are the results of the effort to spend one hour per week for 5 days at each website. Some days for a variety of sites there weren’t enough surveys to fill the hour. (We did not count this time in the total hours of review.)

We’ve listed the U.S. sites based on the average hourly wage we earned in 2017 ranging from our highest earning to our lowest.

1. OneOpinion

The average earnings are $2.03 per hour

The site is a survey aggregator that has an efficient screening procedure. The dashboard is well-organized and includes helpful sections including your activity, as well as a contact form for customers. The site performed above average in determining the surveys we were eligible for. In terms of the points you earn in each survey 1000 points might appear to be a bit high initially, but when you convert them to actual rewards, you’ll receive 50 cents or one dollar. Additionally, you won’t be able to take cash out until you’ve reached the 25,000 point mark, which is equivalent to $25. Learn more about this in the OneOpinion report.

2. Survey Junkie

The average earnings are: $1.57 per hour

The site is smaller than the other survey aggregator but it is distinct. The site is clean user-friendly dashboard that gives you a top point worth for every survey you take. The point system is straightforward and will show you how much points worth in dollars in the display. You must earn up at least 500 points before you are able to take out cash. Read the Survey Junkie review for more details.

3. Opinion Outpost

Earnings: $1.50 per hour

Certain survey websites bombard users with opportunities and informationBut Opinion Outpost is not one of them. Its easy-to-use website allowed us to complete surveys after surveys without thinking about it. We were newbies, and we enjoyed the straightforward points system that amounts to 10 cents for each point. In the end, we earned some cash. We earned an average of $1.50 per hour with Opinion Outpost and were also able to cash it out via Amazon. Check out the Opinion Outpost reviews for more details.

4. i-Say

The average earnings are: $1.01 per hour

This site is only able to provide surveys by Ipsos which is the market research company who manages the site. It has less surveys than the aggregators do but you are still on i-Say for each survey, making the experience more enjoyable. Sometimes, it lists surveys that you’ve previously tried, which can be an irritant. For more details read the I-Say review.

5. MyPoints

The average earnings are: $1.01 per hour

This site had 75 opportunities to take surveys, the most of any website that we have test. It has the lowest satisfaction rate of 9.33 percent and a low average hourly rate of pay. Additionally, the reason for surveys disqualifications were frequently vague. One time we were disqualified for being requested to write “Purple.” (Yes, we correctly spelled it.) Check out our complete MyPoints analysis.

6. Swagbucks

The average earnings are $0.89 per hour

The site provides a variety of survey opportunities However, disqualifications are not uncommon. We’ve had disqualifications just after clicking an advertisement for the survey. Swagbucks integrates surveys from third parties and therefore, some of the sites they send you to are superior to other sites. It takes a lot of amount of time before you can earn points however, the site’s vast rewards marketplace offers a variety of choices which include sweepstakes, gift cards along with PayPal payments. Read our complete Swagbucks analysis.

7. Toluna

The average earnings are $0.71 per hour

Contrary to many other websites, Toluna lets users pick the subjects for their survey, including travel or electronics, which makes the job more enjoyable. But this bonus did not compensate for its poor salary. When we converted points into cash, we made 71 % of our hourly earnings – among the lowest prices among all sites we evaluated. Five hours of points wasn’t enough to be able to use the most affordable gift cards. Learn more in our Toluna review.

8. InboxDollars

The average earnings are $0.41 per hour

Users who sign up for the first time receive 5 dollars in cash after verifying their email address using InboxDollars. However, that’s not enough the fact that we made just 41 cents per hour taking surveys which was 41 cents, which was the lowest amount of all 12 sites we tried. Sometimes rather than sending surveys to us, they referred us to ads that required our name, address, number and birth date. Check out the full InboxDollars Review.

Are paid surveys worth it?

However, no matter what the location that you choose to work on, the pay for conducting surveys could be low in comparison to other employment opportunities. The minimum wage in the United States of $7.25 per hour for example, while our hourly earnings varied from 41 cents up to $2.03. The majority of survey sites required a minimum number of points to be earned before you could use points for cash. For a lot of sites we did not reach the minimum amount even after 5 hours of working. (You might want to consider different activities that generate income.)

Along with the time we spent, we offered valuable personal data to these websites for surveys. We often shared our birth dates or ZIP codes, incomes, health conditions or ethnicities, lifestyles and a lot more. After a long time in the mode of a question and answer We never thought too much about sharing those information.

“The biggest risk is the unknown of how that data is going to be used,” says Eva Velasquez, the president and CEO of the Identity Theft Resource Center. “You really are putting yourself at the mercy of those sites and saying, ‘OK, I’m going to trust you to be a good steward of the information I give you.’ “

Velasquez claims that the information we collect could be used to conduct research that is not reputable and sold on to health insurance companies for instance. It could also be stolen and used for fraud, which is a concern with any website that collects personal information. A majority of the information that we shared seemed to be harmless such as our habits with shopping and travel plans, for instance. However, information such as your birth date could be combined together with other stolen data to steal your identity. Be aware of this when you answer questions.

What should you know when you are taking online surveys

Despite the negatives that come with online surveying, some people may find it as a viable alternative. In the end, there’s no entry barrier and they can be taken from any place that has an internet connection.

After an average of 55 hours of taking surveys Here’s what we’d like to say:

Don’t overshare. If you’re asked to provide the details of your Social Security number, bank account number or driver’s licence number, simply leave the survey. Velasquez advises not that you not be “intentional” with sharing other private information to survey sites. Answering questions related to a television commercial may be acceptable but sharing information about medical conditions might not be worth the risk.

Make an email account exclusively for survey websites. Survey sites typically send us numerous emails daily. When you sign up for these websites, with an email address separate from your primary one keeps survey emails out of your primary inbox.

Install an anti-malware program. This is a good idea when you find that one of these survey websites sends you to a spammy third-party client.

Pause. We’ve all had lengthy session of surveys, with our eyes glued to the screen of the computer for the whole duration. To avoid eye strain eye strain, it is recommended to use the American Optometric Association recommends the 20/20/20 rule: Take a twenty-second breaks every 20 mins, and take a look at something from that is 20 yards away.

If you feel that surveys aren’t for you There are other methods to earn money online including selling things, blogging and doing freelance work. They may require longer however the reward is likely to be higher.
